ABOUT ICCA

Mission / Purpose

The International Corrugated Case Association (ICCA) was formed in 1961. It exists for the purpose of providing to its members those services and activities that can be most effectively conducted by an international organization. The services support and enhance the work of the association members and contribute to the well-being of the corrugated packaging industry worldwide.

ICCA’s objectives are to:

  • Promote and protect the general welfare of the worldwide corrugated container industry.
  • Support and supplement the programs and activities of various national and regional trade associations throughout the world which serve the corrugated container industry.
  • Collect and disseminate information about corrugated products, issues, services and resources throughout the world.
  • Gather, compile and disseminate statistical information and forecasts with respect to the worldwide corrugated container industry.
  • Be the global platform for addressing those needs of the worldwide corrugated container industry which can more effectively be handled by the association and its work groups than by individual companies.

WORK GROUPS

ICCA has formed work groups to focus on global corrugated industry issues. Through these works streams, ICCA wishes to form a worldwide network to problem solve, share worthy information and possibly create a best practices arena to assist regional corrugated associations.

  1. Plastics Penetration / Competing Materials
  2. Tracking / Tracing / RFID, Logistic Chain Know-How
  3. Food Contact / Good Manufacturing Practices
  4. Retail Requirements
  5. Legal
  6. Light weighting

MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE

For 32 years, ICCA has sponsored a biennial Management Conference to allow worldwide corrugated industry executives to come together and share information, in a legal manner, on appropriate issues.

For 2007, ICCA joined with the World Containerboard Organisation (WCO) for the first-ever Global Corrugated/Containerboard Summit. It took place March 14 - 17, 2007 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney, Australia.

2009's Summit will take place in April in Tokyo, Japan.

STATISTICS

ICCA gathers, compiles and distributes corrugated shipment/production data. This is the most authoritative reflection of worldwide corrugated industry data.

ICCA members receive country- and region-specific production/shipment data reports every quarter. The association releases annual data to the general public, and then only by continent.

GLOBAL CORRUGATED FORECASTS

ICCA funds forecasts to predict where the industry will head in the next few years. The next forecast for years 2007 - 2011 will be released in the first quarter 2008.

INTERNATIONAL GUIDELINES

As certain issues in the corrugated industry span over country borders and across continents, ICCA issues guidelines to help its members implement specific programs. ICCA adopted guidelines for members to institute a global recycling symbol and a common footprint for produce. As needed, the association will assess whether additional issues need international guidelines.
